ok, maybe I was missing something.
I saw Novak at last year's MD Festival, and was not at ALL impressed! I'd never heard him before (I'd seen him live with Alanis, and didn't know who he was), and could not figure out how he made it to the festival. His entire performance was bashing the hell out of his kit to home-made african/latin percussion backing tracks...
In any case, since it seems he has a loyal following...can I get some reccommendations of music to seek out to get a better sense of what he can do?

well i dont know a thing about novaks md festival clinic because i didnt attend. I have seen him many times in many settings and i cant believe he left you unimpressed.

ddrruumzz' list is right on.
Novak is a great playrer. His energy is great and he transends the "singles guy/ doubles guy" classification because he is BOTH.
